To the fallen...

I was driving through Luverne on my way to Rutledge last Saturday when I was surprised to see this scene on the side of the road. There were rows and rows of white crosses, set up like you might see at Arlington, and each one had its own little flag. I assume this is the work of the Rotary Club, since it's at the same area as their fountain and flags.

I made a note that I'd have to stop and take a picture later. Even though there was a thunderstorm threatening on my way back, I pulled off and snapped a few shots. This was probably the best one, and I did a little editing to make it more interesting.

I figured this was also probably an appropriate post for today. Happy Memorial Day, everyone.

I shall call him Squishy...

A month or two ago, my parents and I took a weekend and went to Atlanta. The main purpose of the trip was for my mother to see the exhibit at the Civic Center about Princess Diana, but we worked in some stuff for everyone.

We visited World of Coke and caught a Braves game later that night. Obviously, the next day brought a trip to the aquarium. I was walking around like a kid in a candy shop, snapping pictures left and right. If you ever get the chance to go to the Georgia Aquarium, I highly recommend it.

State champions

I recently got the privilege of covering a state championship baseball game, and this was one of the better images. I also nearly got run over taking it.

Autumn leaves

This is a picture that I actually took last year. I haven't really gotten a chance to get out and take any foliage pictures this year. This was a tree outside the Butler County Library.

Make sure you look at the large version - I love the highlighted detail on the end of the leaf. As Bob Ross would say, that was a happy little accident. haha

Blogging, Take No. 3

Alright, here goes my third attempt at blogging. Number two went better than the first time around, but I'm going to take a little different approach now.

Since I rarely have blog-worthy things happen to me, I'm going to try to post some interesting pictures that I take every now and then. Hopefully I won't be too long between updates.

It's also going to take me a little while to get this thing customized like I want it, so there may be some layout or visual changes in the upcoming days and months.

Anyway, let's get this thing started with the picture from my banner up there.

I was at Wal-Mart one night around the beginning of summer (I want to say it was either the end of May or the first of June), when I stepped out into the parking lot and saw the sky lighting up to the south.

There was a thunderstorm brewing, and even though it was clear here, you could see lightning streaking through this cloud. I happened to have my camera with me, so I jumped into my car and drove to the middle of nowhere down Manningham Loop to see if I could get a picture.

The above picture is my best one, but I also like the one below. It almost looks like the reflection of trees on water, but that's just the top of my car. haha I didn't have a tripod, so I improvised by putting the camera on the roof of my car.

You should be able to click on these pictures to view a larger version. (Edit: This isn't working like I want it to... I'll get this fixed when I have a chance to play around with it.)

Thanks for visiting, and I'll have to see what I can dig up for my next post.
